The police authority sets the strategic direction for the force and holds the Chief Constable to account on behalf of the local community for the policing service delivered. Delivering policing services is the job of the Chief Constable.
Gwent Police Authority is committed to working for equality and fairness for everyone. We seek to ensure that respect for equality, diversity and human rights is evident and promoted in all that we do and in carrying out our functions, we aim to eliminate discrimination and harassment and promote equality and accessibility for all our communities.
Our commitment to equality covers all the protected characteristics included under the Equality Act 2010: age, disability, gender reassignment, marriage and civil partnership, pregnancy and maternity, race, religion or belief, sex and sexual orientation. Others have also been identified and included where appropriate.
We are going to publish our new equality objectives by April 2012. Your comments will help us develop these 4 key objectives which have been based on statutory requirements and comments received during previous consultation processes, as well as the commitments of our current Single Equality Scheme.
Please read through the objectives and answer the questions for each one.
